I planted this rose bush about two weeks before Hurricane Wilma.
It took a major beating and was almost uprooted.. It now has lots of new growth on it and then.....
Today, I took this picture of a flower bud on it. I will follow its progress..
Life is so resilient here in the tropics

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,
to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.
And while they were there, the time came for her to be delivered.
And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
And in that region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear.
And the angel said to them, "Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people;
for to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
And this will be a sign for you: you will find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger."
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased!"

I bought her new face plates on EBay..for NOTHING...
Can you imagine....If I had a cell at the same age..I didn't.
I'm trying to remember, I got my own phone number when I had my first job at 16. It was a pink rotary dial number....

I couldn't get the two songs on the link out of my mind. The music scene in Hawaii has its own stars, and this man apparently is a HUGE one..
Brother Noland. I just ordered his greatest hits album from Amazon.com. I presume the whole album is as captivating as those two songs....Pua Lane and Coconut Girl

Saint Jude's Intercession for the Innocent
He is the patron of lost causes..
I often light a candle to the man..and pray for something. And promise another..
I'm not catholic mind you,,,Rhapsody can attest to that..lol.
But I find a comfort in some things..and I indulge my comfort.
Christmas was magical. There is no other way to put it. My father loved christmas, and he made it a magical time. Our house was one that folks drove by to see every year. He had decorations, lights, and wired the property with speakers .....he played christmas carols.
Christmas was for me...as a child...so wonderful.
I try to recapture that, but this year in particular has been bad. No magic that I can feel..altho I've tried hard to make it so.
I feel like I've carried it myself...and magic needs love to grow and live.
No love and no growth here....sadly. I think we are all still shell shocked from Wilma.
I wouldn't want to be that age again...no thanks...but the magic...the feeling.
I miss my Dad. He had that gift to make magic out of simple days.

I so adore the one I already have ( which my sis brought my dgt from Mexico) that when I saw these in target today I simply had to buy them...
I hope they fly as well as the original one does. These are the three new ones, the other picture is the original dragonfly. He is wood, the three new ones are stained glass.
Placed next to my Mr Coffee for size perspective. If you see my shell collection in the jars behind it, those are all collected by myself , DH or my lil one on vacations of the past to florida, the caribbean and mexico. Awesome huh? Anyway, back to the pineapple.
It smells great, and we have decided to have a brunch on saturday with fresh slices of pineapple served with fresh frozen pina coladas.."If you like pina coladas....and getting caught in the rain.."

As any proud parent must, I show you the caterpillars of the Monarch Butterfly. I was outside attempting to photograph a monarch as it fed on my Fiddlewood tree. I happened to glance down onto the Scarlet Milkweed and was astounded and deliriously happy to see it absolutely COVERED with the caterpillars. They will eat the milkweed all up..But fear not. I chop it down to the ground and wallah!! It grows and blooms again and again. Somehow the plant survives being the food source of so many lil hungry kiddies..YES YES YES!!! LOL :-)
I was at the local Home Depot this a.m. and found this black fennel. I know it is a favorite larval food for the Black Swallowtail, so I got two plants and this lovely ceramic pot. I placed it near the scarlet milkweed and goldmound lantana..Plenty of food for the parents and they can then check in to the Fennel NoTell Motel..

March of the Penguins.
It is every bit as good as you may have heard.
If you haven't yet seen it...rent it and watch. Its sad, funny, amazing, a phenomenal story about these wonderful creatures.
I had no idea that ANYTHING was harder than Nine months of pregnancy and 12 hrs of labor followed by a C-section...lol
Boy , was I wrong on all counts.

Also known as the Wailing Wall. You can go to this fantastic site www.aish.com to see a live webcam from Jerusalem.
They also have a link that allows you to send and place a note in the wall. When you send it, it is printed by a student of Aish HaTorah in Old Jerusalem and placed in the wall.
What holier place is there than Jerusalem, and who else but Our Father would provide the technology that would allow us to be there, at least "virtually" without being able to be there physically?
I often send prayers to the wall......It is comforting
Her fruit is ripening rapidly and should be ready to harvest within days.
She is putting off a pup, so when the fruit is picked, and the pup shoots out, she will live on.
Wilma, I thought it was all over for Chiquita after Wilma
Now I pray noone steals my pineapple!
The very young at heart.
Two excellent holiday sites for Christmas fun are
I have already written to Santa, who is AMAZED how quickly the time has gone, that I am already...umm......29 yeah thats it....thats the ticket....29 years old. I asked for a lotto jackpot, but he said sorry, he isn't allowed to give out winning tickets anymore.
Anyway, you track Santa at NORAD, and the emailSanta site is awesome, filled with fun things to do including a magical Santa email reply..An interactive advent calendar and much more.
I've been visiting both sites for as long as I've had a puter...
I CAN'T WAIT FOR SANTA!!!
New Hampshire, home of the fastest wind speed ever recorded, and some of ( if not THE) most severe weather conditions ever recorded.
I love this site.
Here is a pic of Nin the Cat who is their companion and mouser.
There are great webcams on the site and blogs by the stations winter staff..
We may break the old high temp record today. Due to a cold front pressing down , we may have temps close to 90 today.
Then it will cool down to a decent 70's which is where our daytime temps should be for now.
But am I complaining?????? NO...
I am not shoveling snow...so life is GOOD!

Are the main waterfowl that is constantly here in my lake. They have lots of chicks, but few survive to adulthood due to the dangerous life they lead here.
Between Hawks, Eagles, Ospreys, snapping turtles and who knowsallwhatelse..there are few that survive to adulthood
Eating a rather large turtle in my back yard RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE....
Gulp..Nauseating, but nature at work here in the Tropics. I was horrified at first, and thought it was a duck which would have been just dreadful and bloody...Shudder...But again, nature. We have ducks in the lake year round, and when they have babies...THEY ARE SO CUTE...
too bad the adults are so FUGLY...

She won three more today at the Christmas Holiday riding show. She rode her very favorite horse..Hidden Star..She has begun basic jumping. But since she loves and rides Star so often, ( and Star can't jump too high any more) she is still learning.
BTW..Rhapsody,,,,her G'dads nickname is Mac...and so was her Dad's when he was in the Navy..( its a nickname for a family traditional name they all share) Dh stopped using it to prevent confusion between him and his Dad within the family.
Did I ever tell you that? Isn't that Karma????

Who could ever imagine this would be allowed. As children we did drills for bombs...out in the hallway hands over our heads, or under the desks..
Yes indeedy, that would have been a very final undignified position to be caught in as you were vaporized...
But..this is Moscow today...lovely

This is my Falcon. He's the youngest and the biggest..can you get an idea how tall he is?
He is the most playful and loving..He had a broken hock ( rear leg) I don't know how it was broken. Many greyhounds are abused, and live the bulk of their track lives in crates where they are released periodically only to eat and relieve themselves. I rescued him from a wonderful place, where I also got my Pretty boy and my Jackson. ( who is my permanent foster child)
They have a lil girl there who is half sister to my Fally and Boy ( who are half brothers which we discovered after we adopted them) She has a severe heart condition and would be a difficult adoption. Thats why we have Jack, he has severe arthritis which destroyed one hip. He takes meds every day, and has an...shall I say ..interesting personality likely due to his chronic pain and perhaps abuse..We were thinking; is four any more work than three? They are gentle, loving couch potatoes who only need a short walk or romp and spend most of their time sleeping.
STOP GREYHOUND RACING....!!!!!!!!!!!!!
